A week ago, we had no clue about the number of movie enthusiasts who would come to a film festival in Hyderabad. Thank You, Hyderabad for proving that we are always game for anything that has to do with movies. In the past 7 days, we have got over 20 entries in the “Short Film” segment from film makers across Hyderabad, Mumbai and Denmark (!) and there are lot of enquiries from budding film makers about how they can get their films screened. “Cut It Short”-Hyderabad Short Film Festival will begin at 10.00 AM sharp on 23rd August at Prasad Labs, Hyderabad.

Here are some important announcements that we request you to take notice:

1. The number of requests for tickets have already exceeded the seating capacity of the auditorium and at this point of time, Registration to attend the Short Film Festival is Closed.

2. The event organisers have already mailed the tickets to first 100 members who have registered for the event. And we request you to bring this ticket’s print out without fail.

3. If you have a confirmed ticket, then please reach the venue before 9:45 AM and our team will guide you inside the auditorium.  However, if you don’t occupy your seat before 10:00 AM then it will be allotted to someone else.

4. The event will start at 10:00 AM. And that means 10:00 AM sharp!

5. If you haven’t registered for this event or if you have got a conditional entry ticket then your entry is subject to availability of seats. You can leave your name and the request the required number of tickets at the reception.

6. The event is 4 hours long and ends at 2:15PM with two short breaks in between. We request you to come with a heavy breakfast or plan for a brunch after 2:00 PM!

Thank you all for the overwhelming response for “Cut It Short“. Right now, we might have exceeded the seating capacity if the number of requests are any indication. And all further requests are subject to availability of seats. Please do register in any case, you never know who might drop out at the last moment.

However, there’s some fantastic news for those who have already registered for the event. The schedule for the event has been confirmed and we have an interesting array of celebrities who have carved a niche’ for themselves in Tollywood. Yes, I am talking about Mr. Neelakanta, Mr. Ramana Gogula and Mr.Rahul Nambiar.

About our guest speakers:

Mr.Neelakanta- A national award winning director, Mr.Neelakanta is one of the very few directors in Tollywood who’s known for his expertise in screenplay and writing. His debut film, “Show” won two national awards, one for best screenplay and the other for best feature film in Telugu. After that, he has directed movies like Mr.Medhavi, Sada Mee Seva Lo, Nandanavanam 120 kms and Missamma starring Sivaji, Bhoomika. Missamma continues to be one of the most popular films made by Neelakanta.

Mr. Ramana Gogula- A software engineer turned Music Director in Tollywood; Ramana Gogula has been a popular name in the music industry for the past 10 years and he has several hits to his credit like “Thammudu”, “Badri”, “Jhonny”, “Yuvaraju”. He has a production company called “Green Mangoes” and earlier this year, he has donned a new role as a Producer. “Boni” was the first film from his production company.

Mr. Rahul Nambiar- He’s the reason why the term “Bommalli” is so popular in Andhra Pradesh. A Creative director and Visual Effects supervisor, he’s the genius behind the visual effects in the first blockbuster of 2009- “Arundhati” starring Anushka. His work in Chiranjeevi starrer, “Anji” has won a National Award. He formed a visual effects company called “FireFly” which has worked on several films like Chatrapathi, Samba, Godavari…and their most recent and most spectacular work was -the biggest blockbuster of the year “Magadheera“!

We thank these extremely talented personalities from film industry for accepting our invitation. And hope that they would enlighten us about some of the most interesting aspects of film making.

Cut It Short – Hyderabad Short Film Festival

This is an open invitation for all to attend “Cut It Short” – Hyderabad Short Film Festival, on August 23rd, 2009. Cinephiles Hyderabad, an online community of movie aficionados is organizing this film festival for the first time in Hyderabad in association with SHAMIANA-The Short Film Club.

The festival’s main purpose is to promote short films and provide a platform for movie enthusiasts to share their love for cinema. We believe that Hyderabad is yet to wake up to the genre beyond commercial entertainers when it comes to movies. Off late, World Cinema is gaining some patronage, thanks to the movie clubs in the city. “Cut It Short” will be a great venue for you to watch some award winning short films some of which have already been screened in prestigious film festivals like Cannes.


We are also inviting Short Film Makers to get their work screened. Please refer to Rules section. Contact us to get your movie screened at the festival.
